IMTIAZ KUALA TERENGGANU STUDENTS AT PENANG CHESS OPEN

Imtiaz Kuala Terengganu students recently took part in Penang Heritage City Open Chess tournament.Imtiaz has opted chess in their school curriculum and they will gets more exposure to play in the national and internasional level chess competition.Most of the boys are new to chess and I was hired as their coach to train them beginning next year. Prior leaving to Penang the players virtually had none internasional experience.But the boys has shown some promise and enthusiasm.

I already set target for them to qualify to represent Terengganu in MSSM championship next year.Below is table for individual point at Penang Open.Imtiaz top performance players is Muhammad Khairil Anuar Asyraf who scored five and a half points from nine games.Fazli had 5 points, Adli 5 points,and Fahim 3 points.From 45 games they played 8 games are played from players from Singapore.Full result is here.

NOT MY DAY

After 2 weeks of break from playing at playchess.com tournament ,this morning I tried my luck again for a lucky win.I think I played quite well today not as my usual  " set up " for lucky win.I am quite satisfied when I managed to increase my rating to 1987 still low.Though I finished with 7 points but I still misses top five place due to my lower tie break.If my buchoz a little bit higher certainly  I will finished among top five and I could had win 30 or 60 days membership extension.

Penang Open Chess tournament ended a few days ago.The defending Internasional Master Dimankiling (IM) defended the title for the second time.He also beat our number one player IM Mas Hafizul Hilmi in round seven.IM Mas however cannot capitalised his advantages as he was having time trouble in the later part of middle game.

Yeoh Li Tian has showned that he is a few class above the rest of juniors in the country when he finishes in fifth position including beating IM Dableo from Philipine who is 300 points higher then his rating.Penang Chess Association has done a good job overall including distributed bulletin during tournament in progress.All result is here. ASIAN AMATEUR FINAL RANKING

The asian amateur chess tournament has just finished.They are six Terengganu players are involved and after nine round of play Mohd Syazwan Zulkifli is the  best perfomance with 7 points and securing in the 5th placing.Syazwan has now become the top player for Terengganu for his around achievment in the local chess scene.Second best is Nor Ilhamuddin Shaikh Ali and Fairul Yusoff  all had 6 points.Full result is here

FIDE INTRODUCES RAPID AND BLITZ LISTS

Fide to introduce rapid and blitz rating list beginning next year.All Fide rating fees  for these events will be waived during 2012.Since there about 50 to 60 rapid tournaments in Malaysia I think that would be a good idea to have our's tournament  rated.Read more here.

ASIAN AMATEUR : PLAYERS LISTING

Terengganu will be represented by five players in the Asian Amateur Chess Championship due on 25 of  November this month at Crowne Plaza Mutiara Hotel in Kuala Lumpur .They are Nor Ilhamuddin  Shaik Ali (Fide rating  of  1984),Abdul Rahim Ramli ( 1918 ) ,Fairul Yusoff  ( 1916 ) ,Ruzenan Abu Bakar  and Muhammad Arshad.Ruzenan and yours truly needs four rated games to get listed in Fide rating.

The champion will received USD1500 while second place is USD 1100 and third prize is USD 800.They are also four unrated prize offered here,the best unrated  will received USD 400,runner up USD 300,third USD 200 and USD 100 for fourth place winner.In this case if  I am lucky enough I will win either one of the prize offered.

MSSM CHESS 2012 : CONFIRMED TERENGGANU

Terengganu has been awarded by the Education Ministry to host Malaysia School Chess Championship in June next year,it was reported earlier that the championship will be hosted by Perak.The championship is expected to be played in Stadium Negeri at Kuala Terengganu to facilitate bigger participants ,supporters and parents.This is third time in history Terengganu hosted the championship,first time in 1989 in Dungun and few years ago at Unisza.

NO LUCKY PRIZE FOR ME TODAY

Woke up around 4.00 am just to play 3 minutes playchess tournament.The tournament started late due to fall season ( ? ) in europe ,I lost 2 games to lower rated opponents but it was rather careless play by me .After 9 round ended , I finished  at no  45  and that one place up from lucky prize No 44 ,that lucky prize was won by Dg19de another regular lucky prize winner at playchess.com .I will try again tonight.

I am watching world youth olympiad under 16 at playchess.com.My screen shoot shown match between Malaysia and Russia.Here I am able to watch 4 boards  simultaneously and also add engine to help me understand the position better.Good luck to our young players and playing at world level definely will help improve their games.

Lucky again last night when I won 30 days membership in sport accord mind games preminary.The top twelve winners will play in round robin and the winner will received all expenses paid trip to Beijing next month.

Over 200 players took part in that tournament last night including " Barbat " who is from Sabah.He narrowlly missed lucky prize for placing 110 when he finished at  no 112.I played with him in the round 15 and beat him.

Muhd Syazwan Zulkifli is too hot to be handle today at Terengganu's elite chess tournament. He simply whacked all top chess players in Terengganu with a score of 9 points out of  9.A senior player in the tournament says to his wife after losing to Syazwan  " I thought I played  fast but he is faster then me".Second place was won by Hashim Jusoh who has 6 points.Yours truly could only finished in the 5th place and failed to win top three prize money. In under 18 section Siti Aisyah Sabirin came out as the winner and her sister Siti Khadijah Sabirin is under 12 champion.

MALAYSIAN BLIND CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2011

SBM (Malaysia Blind Society) of Terengganu Branch has organised National Chess Championship for blind was held on Sunday at Kompleks Sukan Jalan Pasir Panjang Kuala Terengganu.The one day event was divided into the two categories, total blind (B1 category) and partial blind (B2-B3).

In the B1 category there are ten players took part and was won by national player Amir Shamsuddin of Kuala Lumpur.Second prize was won by Idris Mat Saman from Besut Terengganu.Third place was won by Che Ibrahim Che Man from Kelantan.In the B2 - B3 category was won by Awaluddin Taibon followed by Saharuddin Mappa and third place was won by Mahadhir Gani.

PREDATOR WINS TEAM EVENT AT DUNGUN

Team Predator wins Terengganu Interteam Chess Championship which ended yesterday at Uitm Dungun..Each team consisted of two players and combination of the two must not more then 3250 of the published national rating.My combination with Terengganu's junior player Aiman Zakwan proved lethal as we lead the rest of field right from the start.


Second place was won by team Undisputed trailing by half a points.Team captain Fairul Yusoff lost his game to yours truly when our team met in the 5th round.For team Predator our 6 and seven round opponents just a mere formality because we know the title is ours.
