MALAYSIAN CLOSED CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

After four rounds of play 3 players are currently leading the tournament with 3 points each.Ismail Ahmad currently playing with Leong Mun Wan on the first board,youngster Tan Ken Wei is facing experienced Abdullah Che Hassan on board two.72 players are currently playing in this annual event ,the winner of this event is expected to represent Malaysia in the chess olympiad due to held in Germany.In the women section NMM Nurul Huda Wahidduddin is playing with Alia Azwa Anin Bakri on the 1st board, both players have 3 points each.While Terengganu Norazma Alias with 1.5 points.This event is expected to finish on 4th June.

ANAS IS THE CHAMP

Anas Nazreen Bakri was declare the winner MSSM under 18 boys category base on superior tie break.Meanwhile 2 Terengganu junior players who were leading the tournament right from the start could only managed to secure second and third place respectively.Both Mohd Syazwan and Abdul Kadir Jailani equally scored 5.5 with the eventual winner but their tie break let them down.This is the best achievement sor far yet from any Terengganu junior players in MSSM so for.In under 12 boy category Mohd Huzaimi could only managed 6th place and in under 18 girl Siti Nur Raihan only finished 8th place.Terengganu also won gold best board medal in under 12 girl team event.For the most of the players in the Terengganu team ,the conclusion is that they are just passenger in the boat and that goes to the "coaches" also.Full result will be publish later.Congratulation to Kadir and Syazwan, Huzaimi ,Raihan and Siti Asiah.

KADIR AND SYAZWAN LEADING THE PACK

Two Terengganu under 18 boys currently is leading in the under 18 category.Each players scored 4 points from four round.Yesterday Syazwan beat last year champion Anas Nazreen with black pieces with his favourite Dutch Opening.While Kadir winning his losing game with Kuashal.This morning both players beat their respective opponents to lead the 32 players field.Tomorrow morning they will meet with each other in the fifth round.With two more round to go anything could happened possibility of gold medal is quite clear.
