MASTERSKILL ASEAN + YOUTH TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

Currently 15 players from the state is taking part in chess tournament at Shah Alam.The event due to finish November 7th.The team event will consisting 3 boys and 1 girl playing in every round.Ironically MSST did not organised centralised training for this event.Most of the players for this event were informed last minute.What a way to improved sport in this state.Although MSST have all the mechanism still they acting unprofessionally.The victims are the players and chess.

CHESS PLAYER DIES

In an unusual manner Wan Mohd Zaki passes away today at 12.00 pm in the middle of chess event in Kuala Lumpur.He suddenly collapsed and 2 doctors at the scene unable to save his live.Apparently the two doctors also playing in the tournament.His cause of death is probably heart attack.

First time I met him way back in late 1989.We used to play together in tournament and after that I lost contact with him.Suddenly we met again last November during Maybank Indoor game in Kuantan.That was last time I had a conversation with him.He such as nice guy and easy going , his body will be laid to rest at his hometown Dungun tomorrow.May Allah bless his soul.

KARISMA RESULT

After 4 days of mind battle Internasional Education Center (Intec) emerged champion with 27.5 points.The team comprising Ang Jian Wei ,Tan Wei Khai ,Samuel Hor ,Mohd Dzarfan ,Asma Amerah Zahedi and Izatul Nurain Masruni.Intec only give away two draws to host Pahang and UITM Shah Alam.Second place goes to Shah Alam with 25.5 and third place won by UITM Dungun with much delighted by it's coach Nor Azmi Mohd Nor.

KARNIVAL SUKAN MAHASISWA UITM (karisma)

Uitm Pahang will be hosting UITM inter campus carnival on 24th to 28th November 2007 at Jengka.More then 10 sports event will be contested which will involve 3500 players and officials from UITM campus all over Malaysia.For chess ,only team event will be played and each team must field up one lady player.

MAYBANK INDOOR GAMES

Sabah emerged champion in recently concluded Maybank indoor games which ended last week.13 teams comprising Maybank staffs took part in this annual event.Each team consist 3 players and divided by 4 group.Next year event will be host by Penang.

TERENGGANU SENDING JUNIORS FOR CATUR MERDEKA / UPDATE

Terengganu will send top junior players to Astro merdeka team championship beginning 31th August to 2nd September 2007 at Kompleks wilayah Kuala Lumpur.Four players who will represented Terengganu are, Mohd Syazwan ,Abd Kadir Jailani Sidek Husainy and Amirul Zahanuddin.

Terengganu juniors start 1st round well by beating SRJK (C) Kepong 4 - 0.Next round will start at 3 pm today as the contestants will play in this 8 round tournamnet.22 juniors team are taking part and most of country's top juniors players is playing.In the open section another 44 team is playing.More up date later

TERENGGANU IS MAKSAK CHESS CHAMPION /RESULT

No doubt about it anymore ,Terengganu grab the title with ease right from round one to stamp it's authority from rest of strong field.Terengganu starts well by beating Negeri Sembilan by 4-0, on board one Hashim Jusoh beat former Malays Champ Aziz Jaafar in French Defence.While the rest of the team easily beat Negeri other boards.Entering the third round Terengganu already mass up full eight points after whitewash Kelantan.In the following round Terengganu players grew confident by beating arch rivals Kuala Lumpur by 2.5 to 1.5,Norazmi had a lucky break when Rizal Ahmad Kamal expose king got checkmated on Kingside.In the 5th round round Terengganu players also put up brilliant display to beat Sarawak by 3 to 1.When the title is secure Terengganu decided to field it reserve players against Perlis which causes some dissatisfaction from Sarawak who put up a written protest.Surprisingly Perlis finished second on tie break followed by Sarawak.

IM MAS IN MANILA FOR ASCOPE GAME / RESULT

IM Mas Hafizul and his team will leave for Manila next week for ASCOPE game in Philipine on 10th to 12th August.This annually game is a friendly match between oil companies in ASEAN.Among players who were selected to represent Petronas Ruzenan Hj Abu Bakar,Affandi Ismail,Nor Khairy ,Aid Farhan and Hasdi who qualified from recent Petronas chess carnival.

Terengganu chess players are now ready to take part in MAKSAK chess tournament at Glory beach Resorthttp://www.glorybeachresort.com from 10th to 13 July.The team will travel to Port Dickson on 8th July by bus and will arrive on 9th morning.First round will start on Friday morning,and will play 6 round to decide the winning team.Moreover this is a slight changes from original winner and loser pool format that has been used for sometime.Terengganu is in position to win this event base on it's players strenght.

This weekend Persatuan Catur Negeri Terengganu will have it's general meeting.Abdul Rahim Ramli of UITM is expected to be the new president and Dr Pouzi Hamzah of UMT as deputy president for a NEW Persatuan Catur Negeri Terengganu.

KEJOHANAN CATUR MAKSAK TERENGGANU

The Terengganu goverment staff chess championship or MAKSAK ended today at Kuala Terengganu indoor stadium.Twenty five players from all district took part in the one day event.As expected the number seeded player Hashim Jusoh of Universiti DarulIman (UDM) won the title with 5.5 points after beating the second seeded player Norazmi Mohd Nor fro (UITM).Third place goes to Dr Pouzi Hamzah of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu,followed by Hisamullah Harun of IMTIAZ Dungun and 5th place to Alias Mohd Amin.All top five players automaticaly will represented Terengganu at Maksak Malaysia chess tournament in Port Dickson from 9th to 12th August.They will be joined by another player Abdul Rahim Ramli of UITM.

On 27th - 28th July Terengganu Chess Associations will organised annual Terengganu Closed at University Malaysia Terengganu at Gong Badak.There are 3 categories :

open, novice and under 12.

I have confirmed entry IM Mas Hafizul ,Nor azmi ,Abd Rahim,last year champion Abd Kadir Jailani and Syazwan Zulkifli just to name few strong players.Meanwhile in others section Sukan Wanita u 16 gold medalist Najwa of SMTB will be playing and also Raihan of SMSS will be playing and Nurliyana and Huzaimi of MSSM prize winner will be also playing.IM Mas sure hot favourite to claim the title unless other players put up strong fight.
